Rise is good software. That's not usually why people leave.

Articulate Rise does responsive, linear course building well, and for a lot of teams it's the right tool. People start looking for alternatives for three specific reasons, and it's worth knowing which one is yours.

The first is cost: it's sold as part of an annual 360 subscription, which is a significant commitment if you're an independent consultant or a small L&D function building a handful of courses a year. The second is scope — you're paying for a suite when you use one part of it. The third is lock-in: getting an editable version of your content out of Rise and into anything else is difficult by design.
