Getting Started

Importing from Word

Turn an existing Word document into a course in one step.

If your material already lives in a Word document, you can import it instead of rebuilding it by hand.

How it works

Import your .docx file when creating a course. CourseConverter reads the document structure and converts it: headings become module titles and headings, paragraphs become text blocks, and images are uploaded and placed inline.

Get the best results

  • Use real Word heading styles (Heading 1, Heading 2) rather than just making text big and bold. The importer uses these to build structure.
  • Keep images reasonably sized. Very large images are uploaded as-is.
  • After import, review the result in the editor. Importing is a fast starting point, not the finished product.

Interactive blocks via tags

You can author some interactive blocks directly in Word using tags (for example a knowledge check or flip cards) and the importer will convert them. If you prefer, skip the tags and add interactive blocks in the editor after import.

Limits

Imports are rate limited to protect the service. If you hit a limit, wait a little and try again.
